The Tridente formation strikes in Spain! The 3-4-1-2 setup is more aggressive than Capello has been comfortable with recently but it is obviously showing results as it places Totti in his most dangerous role behind the striker with Delvecchio pulling wide to stretch the defence.

Amazing stuff from the old man. Epitomized the Roma defenses attitude on the night: play Real's star's tight and physical, and simply disrupt any attempt by the Spaniards to build momentum on the attack. Made some spectacular last ditch slide tackles on the few occasions a Madrid throughball beat the Roma backline.

Tough and solid, especilly up against Raul.

Panucci (7):

Solid and cool under the pressure of facing his former club.

Totti (9):

The Champion of the Eternal City strikes again. What a difference to Roma's attacking profile he makes. Along with Montella he ran his markers ragged and constantly exposed Real's soft center throughout. When Montella's shot was deflected it was Totti's characteristic timed run behind the forward line that gave the Captain the space and time to whip the all into Casillas' near post. Great run, great shot, and that really was all she wrote for Real Madrid care of Roma's man of the match.

Largely unheralded and that's a good thing as their disciplined midfield-minding held and Zidane and company from generating and play worth mentioning from midfield.

Antoniolli (8):

His 60th european game, and typifying Antoniolli's career, his performance was unspectacular but dependable under pressure. He was not called on to make reflex saves very often, but when Real did hammer shots to the corners of the Roma goal he did just enough to concede corners and not goals.
