Bemoaning the tiresome escalation of X-Mas promotions, Luke of BlogTo suggests we “make up a totally commercial holiday. Let’s make every November 30 Star Trek Day. A regular Trek bacchanalia.”
Interesting suggestion, but William Shatner’s awe-inspiring spokenword/“music” album aside, the merchandising machine known as Star Wars surely be a much more appropriate subject for a totally commercial holiday? After all, who can trump George Lucas’ infamous release of the original classic trilogy set on VHS, followed by the special edition of the classic trilogy soon after? The worst part is how many meek fans paid for both sets in quick succession without a complaint!
p.s. I would like it to be noted that I have yet to make a reference as to how a blogger named Luke should have thought of Star Wars first…
