Isn’t the world such a wonderfully pleasant place when America’s premier televangelist calls for the head of a South American President? BBC News reports:
Mr Robertson, 75, said on Monday’s edition of the 700 Club: “You know, I don’t know about this doctrine of assassination, but if he thinks we’re trying to assassinate him, I think that we really ought to go ahead and do it.
“It’s a whole lot cheaper than starting a war … and I don’t think any oil shipments will stop.”
Brilliant.
Yet, what part of this story is most unsettling? Is it that a “spiritual leader” is so cavalierly advocating murder or is it that so many Americans tune in to have their religious guidance dispensed to them by people like Robertson?
