According to the CBC, the Conservative Party is in no hurry to force another federal election:
Opposition Leader Stephen Harper said his party will support the minority Liberal government’s budget, saying Canadians are in no mood to go back to the polls any time soon.
“Canadians do not want two elections in one year. It is not in the national interest to do so unless it were overwhelmingly obvious that we must do so,” Harper said on Thursday in his official response to the budget in the House of Commons.
That’s too bad. Frankly, I could stomach a full-fledged election campaign every six months if politicians could summon enough stamina (or fundraising dinners and intestinal fortitude) to brave the polls.
After all, until I get the chance to mark an X beside ‘None of the Above’, I should atleast have the opportunity to eat my ballot on a regular basis.
