Guess what? It's United Nations Day today and, quite possibly, you and I are the only ones who are presently aware of it. Also, quite possibly, you and I are unlikely to care. Quite possibly, our apathy to the UN is not because we dismiss UN run humanitarian and developmental organizations such as the WHO, but rather because we're not blind enough to believe that UN politcal bodies such as the Security Council are anything but paralytic and irresolute homages to the League of Nations.

Do you think our disregard may be because the UN has been revealed as a toothless and senile world body in lieu of America's increasing tendency to strong arm and just plain outright ignore other world powers (i.e. NATO's US led air war against Yugoslavia and the Bush-men's spuriously justified invasion of Iraq)? Quite possibly.
